Nolan is a network engineer and web developer with over 8 years of experience in DNS infrastructure, network performance optimization, and frontend development. He built DNS Speed Test to help everyday users understand and improve their internet speed by choosing the right DNS resolver. Nolan holds a background in computer science and has worked with ISPs and hosting providers on DNS optimization projects.
Our Mission
Everyone deserves a fast internet experience. DNS speed is one of the few performance bottlenecks that regular users can fix themselves, instantly and at no cost. We built this tool to make that process as simple as possible. Run a test, see which resolver is fastest, change two numbers in your settings, and your browsing feels snappier. No technical knowledge required.
Why DNS Speed Matters
Every time you visit a website, your device first needs to look up the IP address using DNS. That lookup typically takes 5 to 100 milliseconds, but not all DNS resolvers are created equal. A fast resolver completes the process in under 15 milliseconds. A slow one can take 50 or more. Multiply that difference across the dozens of domains a modern webpage pulls from — scripts, fonts, images, analytics — and a slow resolver can add a full second or more to your page load time.

How It Works
Our tool uses DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) to test DNS servers directly from your browser. This modern protocol encrypts DNS queries, providing both speed and privacy. We measure response times using the browser's high-resolution performance.now() API, which provides microsecond precision. All tests run simultaneously for instant results.
